African Legacy Foundation Signs Cooperation Agreement with Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

During a recent visit to Caracas, Dr. Moussa Ibrahim, Executive Secretary of the African Legacy Foundation, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Iván Gil Pinto, and Deputy Minister for Africa, Yuri Pimentel, for high level discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Africa and Latin America.

The meeting explored opportunities to deepen collaboration between liberation movements, academic institutions, and cultural organizations across the Global South. Discussions highlighted the role of descendants of Africa’s historic liberation leaders and the importance of preserving and advancing the legacy of anti colonial and Pan African movements through international partnerships.

A central outcome of the meeting was the signing of a cooperation agreement between the African Legacy Foundation and the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agreement establishes a framework for joint initiatives in publishing, documentary film production, academic exchange, and youth collaboration, with the aim of documenting the history of liberation movements and fostering stronger ties between African and Latin American societies.

The discussions also addressed the enduring influence of African revolutionary leaders, particularly the legacy of Muammar Gaddafi and its impact on political thought within Latin America. Participants reflected on the shared experiences of resistance, sovereignty, and self determination that continue to shape relations between Africa and Latin America.

The meeting concluded with an invitation for Dr. Moussa Ibrahim to serve as a visiting lecturer at the African Academic Center in Caracas, further strengthening academic and intellectual cooperation between the two regions.
